Balance is Back ⚖️

I started Balanced Software, Inc. in 2016. We built a macOS app for your money that was featured by Apple. We shipped Balance Manager, WalletConnect & the core of what became Rainbow. I am back.

I started Balance because I had no idea what my bank balance was. Here is the first prototype:

It was a menubar app for your Mac that used Plaid for data services. We shipped something truly incredible that lots of people loved. My designs were always a long way ahead of the engineering capacity.

Then, in 2017, Ethereum started to skyrocket. I followed the market.

Then Pedro and I shipped a new standard called WalletConnect.

Then we started helping out teams in decentralised finance with their interfaces. I funded, supported and designed the first prototype for Uniswap. Then I helped the teams at Maker, Nexus Mutual & The Graph.

The team at @0xProject just launched Instant, a quick way to buy tokens. It pools orders from their network of relayers. We have added support for it to Manager. Check it out at: manager.balance.io blog.0xproject.com/introducing-0x…

Then we started to focus on mobile software with Balance Wallet. These were the designs we came up with.

The designs were fantastic but the engineering was horrific.

That code became Rainbow.

My team left me.

I hibernated.

Hey everyone, This is a hard thing to share but I have decided to shut down @Balance_io’s web & mobile apps. I want to give some context to the decision and what I’m looking for next. 5 years ago, I saw Gavin Wood speak in San Francisco and showed Vitalik around the Valley.

I healed.

Now, I am back. Balance is back. We are going to build software to help people access the magical protocols that live inside Ethereum’s Virtual Machine.
